The One Who Sees

It’s a quiet day in the house two days before Christmas. I’m listening to Christmas music while doing some much needed cleaning and organizing. I hear songs that bring back memories of childhood Christmases, and newer songs reminding me of Christmas dances I have choreographed for church. These newer ones, less than five or six years old, are what’s moving me today. Dances that were diligently worked on for hours and hours, only performed once or maybe twice, still stir my heart. It already seems like such a long time ago since I danced them but when the music plays, my heart stirs again. They weren’t just dances for the people at church.  They were true worship for the King of my heart making them of eternal value. Without video or photography of the dances, the moves are repeated in my heart and mind’s eye, and I know that He also sees and remembers. He has recorded it all; me being led by Him to do what He created me to do for Him.

As I drove through a part of town earlier this week, I contemplated on the homes in that area that my husband designed and built. What a blessing it was to watch him creatively connect with people’s hearts to bring them their dream home. How they loved and appreciated what he did. But what about the next family or the one after that who came (or eventually will) to occupy the house? Do they appreciate all the heart and talent that my husband poured into the creation of that home? Will they care to know his name? Likely, no. But there is One who does and always will. The Lord God who gave him that architectural design and building talent saw and recorded every interaction, every thought, throughout the days and nights culminating in the creation of that home. And regardless of others, God is pleased to watch my husband do what he was created to do.

And now, today, we both have a brief respite from work, and also from preparing for Christmas. We all need these respites. Sometimes we need to force them; necessary moments alone or with another close friend to re-set from work and the many other things we do. We are shutting down the worldly noise, reconnecting with nature, looking back up to God, sensing His presence within, and preparing to give again.

How are you? In this crazy busy season when it seems many have lost the true meaning of our Christmas celebrations, He sees. He sees you. He sees how hard you’ve been working to bring your family and others together, to keep peace, to bless and provide a joyful celebration. He knows what you do. He sees what’s been put aside for the sake of others. He also sees you; the one with more quiet in your home and heart than you would like. Your joys and your hurts. Your prayers. He’s recording it all and He cares. I pray that your Christmas is just as it should be, with many or few, but most importantly with the presence of Him. He sees and knows.

For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:36 NASB
