Yes, as usual, I was back in school. This time, it was a bit of a nightmare.
What do you do with nightmares? They leave you shaken, wondering what influenced their strange unwelcomed entrance into your mind.
In this dream I was moving into my dorm room with two other roommates. I was the first to arrive and everything felt great. Things took a quick disconcerting turn, and then got worse. I left the room to seek help but no one would engage with me. Couldn’t they see the seriousness of the matter on my face? In my voice? I returned to the room. Seeing that things had become even darker (I am sparing the details), I left once more to find a higher authority to help me, to get the situation straightened out, or to get me moved to a new room. This was bad. I was fearful and anxious.
Again, I could not find anyone to listen or help. Then in an instant, I realized that I did not have to agree with fear. I did not have to submit to the situation. Sure, I might lose some money, some investment, but my future and my safety were worth so much more. Losses can be recovered. All fear completely vanished and I was full of confidence. There was no reason to suffer in this situation. I had a choice, and I was choosing to move on. I’d find another place.
Are you dealing with fear regarding a situation in your life? Are you anxious by the things going on around you? You have a choice. And as you choose your path, remember, fear is not from God. Several times in scripture, God says, “Be strong and courageous,” and “Do not fear.”
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.” – Psalm 18:2
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” – Isaiah 26:3
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
Don’t let the fears and evil circumstances of the world slow you down. Strengthen yourself in the Lord and move into the plans He has for you. You can walk confidently in His faithful guidance and presence.
Sweet dreams, my friends!
